A photovoltaic module apparatus with edge access to PV strings includes a plurality of PV cells arranged in a planar array having a front side and a back side, the plurality of PV cells being electrically connected together in at least one string having a positive terminal and a negative terminal. Positive and negative conductors are connected to the positive and negative terminals respectively and front and back encapsulating sheets are disposed on the front and back sides of the array to form a sub-laminate comprised of the array and the front and back encapsulating sheets. Each of the positive and negative conductors has a respective portion extending from the positive and negative terminals respectively, between the front and back encapsulating sheets. Front and back protectors are disposed on the front and back encapsulating sheets respectively to form a laminate comprising the sub-laminate and the front and back protectors. First and second terminating portions of the positive and negative conductors extend outwardly from the outer perimeter edge of the laminate. A frame including a frame member having a holder for holding an electrical connector to which the terminating portions are connected may be provided about at least one portion of the outer perimeter edge of the laminate.

L'invention porte sur un appareil de module photovoltaïque avec accès par le bord à des chaînes photovoltaïques qui comprend une pluralité de cellules photovoltaïques agencées en un réseau plan ayant un côté avant et un côté arrière, la pluralité de cellules photovoltaïques étant électriquement connectées ensemble dans au moins une chaîne ayant une borne positive et une borne négative. Des conducteurs positif et négatif sont connectés aux bornes positive et négative respectivement et des feuilles d'encapsulation avant et arrière sont agencées sur les côtés avant et arrière du réseau pour former un sous-stratifié constitué du réseau et des feuilles d'encapsulation avant et arrière. Chacun des conducteurs positif et négatif a une partie respective s'étendant à partir des bornes positive et négative respectivement, entre les feuilles d'encapsulation avant et arrière. Des protecteurs avant et arrière sont agencés sur les feuilles d'encapsulation avant et arrière respectivement pour former un stratifié constitué du sous-stratifié et des protecteurs avant et arrière. Des première et seconde parties de terminaison des conducteurs positif et négatif s'étendent vers l'extérieur à partir du bord périphérique extérieur du stratifié. Un cadre comprenant un élément de cadre ayant un support pour tenir un connecteur électrique auquel les parties de terminaison sont connectées peut être installé autour d'au moins une partie du bord périphérique extérieur du stratifié.
