[PROBLEMS] To facilitate the object selection on a display screen. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] The invention provides a method for facilitating the object selection on a display screen, an apparatus for implementing the method, and a program for allowing a computer to function as this apparatus. The method comprises the steps of selecting a particular object on the display screen in response to a user input; tracing the tree structure of a plurality of objects displayed on the screen, thereby extracting, as selection candidates, those ones of the plurality of objects which overlap with the selected particular object; and displaying, in the vicinity of the selected particular object, a selectively switching view including elements indicative of the selection candidates.

La méthode comporte les étapes suivantes: sélection d'un objet particulier sur l'écran en réponse à la saisie de l'utilisateur; traçage d'une arborescence de plusieurs objets sur l'écran; extraction en tant que candidats à la sélection de ceux des objets recouvrant l'objet particulier sélectionné; et affichage à proximité de l'objet particulier sélectionné d'une vue à commutation sélective comprenant des éléments indiquant les candidats à la sélection.
