A novel method for forming powder of a hydrogen storage alloy without the need for further mechanical processing. The alloy powder may be adapted for use as the negative electrode material of rechargeable electrochemical, hydrogen storage cells. The method includes the step of controlling the hydrogen concentration wihtin the hydrogen storage alloy to form powder where 90% of the particles are less than 250 microns in average dimension.

L'invention concerne un nouveau procédé de formation d'une poudre d'alliage de stockage d'hydrogène sans qu'il y ait nécessité d'un autre traitement mécanique. La poudre d'alliage peut être conçue pour s'utiliser comme une matière de l'électrode négative de cellules de stockage d'hydrogène électrochimiques rechargeables. Le procédé consiste à réguler la concentration d'hydrogène dans l'alliage de stockage d'hydrogène pour former une poudre dans laquelle 90 % des particules sont inférieures à 250 micromètres de taille moyenne.
