- 15 - ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A fully powered, one man curb cutting system is trailer mounted, for towing behind a vehicle to its location of use. A motorized and steerable fifth wheel is deployed from a retracted to an extended position, to raise the trailer tongue clear of the hitch, and to propel and steer the trailer into a desired position adjacent a curb to be sawed. Referring to the vehicle left side when viewed from the rear, adjacent a working curb, as the "nearside", a pair of nearside jacks, carried on extensible arms pivoted to the trailer may be deployed to desired locations adjacent the curb to be sawn, in supporting relation with the saw. The trail wheels may then be partially retracted in order to transfer some of the trailer weight onto the nearside jacks. Adjustment to the extent of retraction of the trailer wheels permits orientation of the cutting plane of the power driven saw to a desired angle, laterally, whereat a set of off-side jacks are extended downwardly in supporting relation with the trailer off-side, and the wheels then retracted clear of the ground. Adjustment between the nearside jacks can correct the cutting plane, longitudinally. The saw is driven directly from a motor carried inboard on a carriage mounted for longitudinal travel along a track on the chassis frame of the trailer. The motor also powers a hydraulic pump, by means of which the fifth wheel system is operated in both its load transfer and trailer driving modes. The pump also serves to to energize the deployment of the near-side jacks, the retraction of the four trailer main wheels, the loading of the off-side jacks in trailer supporting relation, and the powering of the carriage along the chassis frame and the vertical positioning and lateral feed of the saw.
