The present disclosure relates to synthetic alpha-galactosyl ceramide (.alpha.- GalCer) analogs, and their use as immunotherapies, adju-vants, and antiviral, antibacterial, and anticancer agents. In one aspect, a method of activating a cy-tokine response in a subject includes administer-ing an effective amount of a compound to a sub-ject, wherein the subject has an adaptive immune system that includes a population of cells, the population including at least one lymphocyte and at least one antigen-presenting cell, and wherein the compound is represented by the structure of formula 1 :; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof; forming a complex between the com-pound and the antigen-presenting cell, wherein the formation of the complex results in the activa-tion of a receptor on the lymphocyte; and activat-ing the lymphocyte to produce the cytokine re-sponse.
L'invention concerne des analogues d'alpha-galactosylcéramide (a-GalCer) synthétique, et leur utilisation en tant que produits d'immunothérapie, adjuvants et agents antiviraux, antibactériens et anticancéreux. Selon un premier aspect, un procédé d'activation d'une réponse de cytokine chez un sujet comprend l'administration d'une quantité efficace d'un composé à un sujet, le sujet ayant un système immunitaire adaptatif qui comprend une population de cellules, la population comprenant au moins un lymphocyte et au moins une cellule présentant un antigène, et le composé étant représenté par la structure de la formule 1; ou un sel pharmaceutiquement acceptable de celui-ci; la formation d'un complexe entre le composé et la cellule présentant un antigène, la formation du complexe ayant pour résultat l'activation d'un récepteur sur le lymphocyte; et l'activation du lymphocyte pour produire la réponse de cytokine.
