The invention provides a telecommunications network which stores data identifying geographical locations and/or network types associated with dialling codes. If a customer requires to identify to where a dialled code relates he may dial a service access code and a series of voice prompts will encourage entry of digits identifying areas. Voice announcement peripherals are used to provide decoding of data to area name and, if further detail is available, to provide a more specific geographic location indicated as town name. Further, based on the customer's current location, the time of day and charge band information relating to the code dialled, the customer may be informed of the potential cost of calls. In a further development a customer may be given a postcode indication and address information relating to a known telephone number. Also, based on network information, customers may opt in to required confirmation of call prior to connection after dialling for example, mobile, international, or premium rate service numbers.
L'invention concerne un réseau de télécommunications qui enregistre des données identifiant des lieux géographiques, et/ou concerne des types de réseaux associés à des codes de numérotation. Si un client demande d'identifier le lieu auquel se rapporte un code composé, il peut composer un code d'accès à un service et une série de messages d'interrogation vocaux incitent à fournir des chiffres identifiant des zones. Et également, en fonction des informations réseau, les clients ont la possibilité de choisir la demande de confirmation d'une communication avant établissement de la liaison après numérotation, par exemple pour des numéros de service mobile, international ou kiosque.
