A method of performing cardiac surgery on a patient's heart, including covering a patient with an inflatable blanket for a forced air convection system, the inflatable blanket having at least one separable seal line within the blanket. The separable seal line may be separated to form a slit. A patient's femoral artery is accessed through the slit, and an elongate medical instrument is passed through the slit, and through the femoral artery toward the patient's heart. Cardiac surgery is performed with the elongate medical instrument, and the elongate medical instrument is withdrawn from the femoral artery through the slit.

L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de réaliser une cardiochirurgie sur le coeur d'un patient. Ce procédé consiste à couvrir le patient au moyen d'une couverture gonflable pourvue d'un système de convection d'air forcé et comprenant au moins une ligne d'étanchéité pouvant être séparée à l'intérieur de la couverture, de manière à former une fente. Celle-ci permet d'accéder à l'artère fémorale du patient et un instrument médical allongé est passé à travers la fente et à travers l'artère fémorale en direction du coeur du patient. Une cardiochirurgie est effectuée au moyen de l'instrument médical allongé qui est retiré de l'artère fémorale par l'intermédiaire de la fente.
