It is intended to provide a safe antidiarrheal agent and a method of inhibiting diarrhea whereby an efficient effect of inhibiting diarrhea can be established without resort to antibiotics or synthetic antibacterial agents having been employed for infectious diseases of livestock and poultry and infectious diseases caused antibiotic-tolerant pathogens can be also prevented and treated. Namely, an antidiarrheal agent comprising, as the active ingredient, thermally killed cells of Enterococcus faecalis EC-12 (FERM ABP- 10284) or a processed product thereto is orally administered to livestock or poultry, in particular, to breast-feeding mother pigs and piglings before and after weaning.

L'intention est de fournir un agent antidiarrhéique sans danger et un procédé d'inhibition de la diarrhée par lequel on peut établir un effet efficace d'inhibition de la diarrhée sans avoir recours à des antibiotiques ou à des agents antibactériens de synthèse qui ont été employés pour des maladies infectieuses du bétail et de la volaille et on peut également prévenir et traiter des maladies infectieuses provoquées par des pathogènes tolérants vis-à-vis des antibiotiques. A savoir qu'un agent antidiarrhéique comprenant, comme ingrédient actif, des cellules thermiquement tuées de Enterococcus faecalis EC-12 (FERM ABP-10284) ou un produit transformé de celles-ci est administré oralement à du bétail ou de la volaille, en particulier à des truies allaitant et à des porcelets avant et après le sevrage.
