To produce a hole in a part (1) made of a thermoplastic composite, the part is locally heated to a plastic forming temperature Tf and the fibres (10) of the composite are progressively moved apart at the same time as the matrix (11) in the plastic state is pushed back radially relative to the axis of the hole, firstly to form a starter hole and then to enlarge the starter hole up to the desired hole dimensions. When the hole has been produced, an operation for sizing the thickness of the part in the hole region is carried out without removal of material because of the excess material pushed back from the hole. A tool having a needle (31), the cross section of which progressively changes between a tapered end (311) suitable for producing the starter hole and a heel (312), is used to produce the hole by the method.
Pour réaliser un trou dans une pièce (1) en matériau composite thermoplastique, la pièce est chauffée localement à une température Tf de formage plastique et les fibres (10) du matériau composite sont écartées progressivement en même temps que la matrice (11) à l'état plastique est repoussée radialement par rapport à l'axe du trou d'abord pour former un avant trou et ensuite pour élargir l'avant trou jusqu'aux dimensions voulues pour le trou. Lorsque le trou est réalisé, une opération de calibrage de l'épaisseur de la pièce dans la zone du trou est réalisée sans enlèvement de matière en raison de la matière excédentaire repoussée du trou. Un outil comportant une aiguille (31) dont la section évolue progressivement entre une extrémité effilée (311) adaptée à la réalisation de l'avant trou et un talon (312) est mis en oeuvre pour réaliser le trou suivant le procédé.
