A method and an apparatus for identifying mapping of a paper machine by means of a mapping test. The invention comprises forming a mapping model which takes the linear and non-linear shrinkage of a paper web into account. The mapping test result is analysed to form a non-linear shrinkage profile and a linear mapping error from it. The linear error and the non-linear shrinkage profile thus obtained are used in the mapping model.

Procédé et appareil pour identifier le mappage d'un actionneur de machine à papier au moyen d'un test de mappage. Selon l'invention, on forme un modèle de mappage qui tient compte du rétrécissement linéaire et non linéaire d'une bande de papier. Les résultats du test de mappage sont analysés pour obtenir un profil de rétrécissement non linéaire et, à partir de ce profil, une erreur linéaire de mappage. L'erreur linéaire et le profil de rétrécissement non linéaire ainsi obtenus peuvent être utilisés dans le modèle de mappage.
