"This plastic paint can lid with a transparent zone is specifically designed to add value and render it attractive as a replacement to existing metal lids in production, or as an aftermarket or impulse purchase. This has come about through the recognition that current metal paint can lids are deficient in several ways. For example, they are opaque and it is not possible to see either the volume of paint or its colour. Replacement of lids, onto tins after use, is an experience most people dread both for reasons of their tight fit and the resultant force required to properly and completely seal the tin, and because of the risk of paint spattering if the lid is hammered on without a drop sheet or rag in position to catch paint left in the groove of the tin. Traditional lids also possess a slippery surface which requires careful placement and alignment of other cans stacked on top, if tumbling stock is to be avoided. Furthermore, paint will not adhere to plastic lids and these lids can be stored for future reference and use."
