A separator for fuel cells which has a gold covering layer on the surface of a metal plate and is formed by plastic working, wherein the relationship (R+D)/R~5 1.025 (50µm~R~1000µm) is satisfied assuming the minimum bending radius R at a plastic worked portion is R(µm), and the thickness of the gold covering layer is D (µm). According to the separator for fuel cells, exfoliation or cracking is prevented in the gold covering layer after plastic working, whereby corrosion resistance and durability can be remarkably improved.

L'invention concerne un séparateur de pile à combustible doté d'une couche de revêtement en or à la surface d'une plaque métallique et obtenu par le travail des plastiques. Une relation (r+d) / r<1,025 (50 mu m<100 mu m) est rendue possible dans la mesure où la flexion minimale R d'une partie du travail des plastiques est r ( mu m), et où l'épaisseur de la couche de revêtement en or est d ( mu m). Dans ledit séparateur de pile à combustible, la démétallisation ou le craquelage ne se produisent pas dans la couche de revêtement en or après le travail des plastiques et la résistance à la corrosion ainsi que la durée peuvent être améliorées de manière significative.
