8CH-2582 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Resistance to high heat distortion is imparted to high molecular weight aromatic polycarbonate resins by controlling the degree to which particular diphenols are halogenated so that there are obtaine either highly pure dihalogenated diphenols or predetermined statistical mixtures comprising predominantly mono- and dihalogenated diphenols together with some un- reacted diphenol.
