The invention concerns a device for holding a trailer coupler onto a hitch attached to a vehicle. The device comprises a base, a rigid C-shaped part and a mechanism for holding the rigid C-shaped part in the closed position. The base is fastened to a drawbar and to a vertical part. The C-shaped part comprises a central portion, an upper arm and a lower arm, and is equipped with a mechanism to enable the C-shaped part to slide along the vertical portion of the base between an "open" position, in which the trailer coupler has access to the hitch, and a "closed" position, in which the upper arm of the C-shaped part prevents the coupler from being withdrawn from the hitch. This device is easy to use and install, and it closes automatically when the coupler is in place on the hitch, preventing the coupler from detaching from the hitch.
L'invention concerne un dispositif pour maintenir en place un coupleur de remorque sur une boule d'attelage fixée à un véhicule. Le dispositif comprend une base, une pièce rigide en forme de "C" et un mécanisme pour bloquer la pièce rigide en forme de "C" en position fermée. La base est fixée à une barre de tirage et a une portion verticale. La pièce en forme de "C" comprend une portion centrale, un bras supérieur et un bras inférieur et est pourvue d'un mécanisme permettant à la pièce en forme de "C" de glisser le long de la portion verticale de la base entre une position "ouverte" où le coupleur de remorque a accès à la boule d'attelage et une position "fermée" où le bras supérieur de la pièce en forme de "C" empêche le retrait du coupleur de la boule d'attelage.
