A process for the preparation of polyalkylphenoxyaminoalkanes which comprises the aminoethylation of a polyalkylphenol compound in the presence of a basic catalyst with .beta.-amino alcohol or derivative thereof having the following structure: R1NH-CHR2-CH2-OH and a dialkyl carbonate having the following formula: (R3O)2CO wherein R1 and R2 are independently hydrogen or lower alkyl having 1 to about 6 carbon atoms, hydroxylalkylene, phenyl, alkaryl, or aralkyl, R3 is lower alkyl having 1 to about 6 carbon atoms, and wherein the polyalkyl group of said polyalkylphenol has an average molecular weight in the range of about 600 to 5,000. Optionally, an alcohol co-solvent having the structure R4-OH wherein R4 is an alkyl group of about 4 to 10 carbon atoms may be used.

Procédé pour la préparation de polyalkylphénoxyaminoalcanes, comportant l'aminoéthylation d'un polyalkylphénol en présence d'un catalyseur basique avec un bêta-aminoalcool ou un dérivé de bêta-aminoalcool ayant la structure R1NH-CHR2-CH2-OH et un carbonate de dialkyle de formule (R3O)2CO, où R1 et R2 sont, indépendamment l'un de l'autre, un hydrogène ou un alkyle comptant 1 à environ 6 atomes de carbone, un hydroxylalkylène, un phényle, un alkaryle ou un aralkyle, où R3 est un alkyle comptant 1 à environ 6 atomes de carbone, et où le groupement polyalkyle du polyalkylphénol en question possède une masse moléculaire moyenne de l'ordre d'environ 500 à 6 000. De manière facultative, on peut utiliser comme cosolvant un alcool de structure R4-OH, où R4 est un groupement alkyle comptant environ 4 à 10 atomes de carbone.
