A device for the treatment of tumours comprising an elongate catheter (102), a plurality of flexible needles (402) confined within the catheter which, when extended therefrom, take up a curved form and which, together, define a structure for surrounding a tumour to be treated; the needles being arranged to heat and embolise a shell of tissue surrounding the tumour, thereby cutting off the tumour's blood supply. The invention further extends to a method of treatment using such a device.
L'invention concerne un appareil destiné au traitement de tumeurs comprenant un cathéter allongé (102). L'appareil comprend également une pluralité d'aiguilles souples (402) logées dans le cathéter et qui, lorsqu'elles sont déployées de celui-ci, présentent une forme cintrée et délimitent ensemble une structure servant à encercler une tumeur à traiter. Les aiguilles sont disposées de manière à chauffer et à emboliser une enveloppe de tissu entourant la tumeur, ce qui coupe l'irrigation sanguine de cette dernière. L'invention concerne en outre une méthode de traitement utilisant l'appareil.
