A method for surface-based machining of a decorative article is provided. The method includes retrieving a first graphical representation of the decorative article, and deriving a surface representation therefrom. The surface representation may have one or more segments. The method also includes deriving a tool path for each of the segments of the surface representation. By machining a workpiece in accordance with the tool paths, the decorative article is produced.

L'invention concerne un procédé d'usinage en surface pour un article décoratif. Le procédé consiste à rechercher une première représentation graphique sur un article décoratif, et à en tirer une représentation de surface. La représentation de surface peut avoir un ou plusieurs segments. Le procédé comprend également la réalisation d'une trajectoire d'outils pour chacun des segments de la représentation de surface. En usinant une pièce selon les trajectoires des outils, l'article décoratif est produit.
