The present invention provides for amino-crosslinkable coating formulations based on a mixture of a di- or polyhydroxy functional polymeric component selected from the group consisting of diesters, polyesters, alkyd polymers, acrylic polymers and polycarbonate polymers, a crosslinking agent such as a methylol (alkoxymethyl)amino crosslinking agent, and a reactive additive which is the ester reaction product of a phenol carboxylic acid, preferably para- hydroxybenzoic acid, and an epoxy compound selected from glycidyl ethers, glycidyl esters, linear epoxies and aromatic epoxies. The crosslinkable compositions of this invention may be used to prepare curable coating and paint formulations, and also may contain other ingredients such as a crosslinkning catalyst, fillers, pigments and the like. When cured, the coatings of this invention exhibit improved physical and chemical properties when compared with cured coatings which do not contain the ester reaction product additive.

Formulations de revêtements amino-réticulables à base d'un mélange d'un composant polymère fonctionnel di- ou polyhydroxy choisi dans le groupe constitué par les diesters, polyesters, polymères alkydes, polymères acryliques et polymères de polycarbonate, d'un agent de réticulation tel qu'un méthylol(alcoxyméthyl)amino, d'un additif réatif constitué par le produit d'estérification d'un acide carboxylique phénolique, de préférence d'un acide para-hydroxybenzoique, et d'un composé époxy choisi parmi les éthers de glycidyle, les esters de glycidyle, les époxy linéaires et les époxy aromatiques. Les compositions réticulables décrites peuvent servir à élaborer des formulations de revêtement et de peinture durcissables; elles peuvent également contenir d'autres composants, comme un catalyseur de réticulation, des charges, des pigments et d'autre substances analogues. Une fois durcis, les revêtements de cette invention présentent des qualités supérieures, sur le plan physique et chimique, par rapport aux revêtements durcis ne renfermant pas ce produit d'estérification comme additif.
