In wireless communications, a method and system for enhancing signal decoding capability in null areas uses dithering to break up or modify the null areas. The null areas form in overlapping regions of the beams of two antennas or in overlapping regions of a single signal that is subject to multipath. Dithering is used to spread the null areas over a wider region so that a WTRU in an overlap region will not statically remain within a null area.

La présente invention concerne, dans les communications sans fil, un procédé et un système qui permettent d'améliorer la capacité de décodage des signaux dans des zones vides, en faisant appel à un tramage pour rompre ou modifier les zones vides. Les zones vides se forment dans les régions en chevauchement des faisceaux de deux antennes ou dans les régions en chevauchement d'un seul signal soumis à une propagation par trajets multiples. Selon l'invention, on utilise un tramage pour étaler les zones vides sur une région plus étendue de façon qu'un émetteur-récepteur sans fil dans une région de chevauchement ne reste pas de façon statique à l'intérieur d'une zone vide.
