A pharmaceutical composition comprising a metal complex of a carboxylate having anti-inflammatory activity in a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, wherein: (1) the composition has a colloidal structure, or forms a colloidal structure when administered to a human or animal, or is immiscible with water; (2) more than 80% of the total amount of the carboxylate having anti- inflammatory activity in the composition is present as part of a metal complex; and (3) less than 10% of the carboxylate having anti-inflammatory activity complexed with the metal dissociates from the metal over 12 months when the composition is stored in the absence of light at room temperature; but excluding compositions comprising a metal complex containing the ligand DMF. The invention also provides the use of the pharmaceutical composition in the treatment of inflammatory conditions in humans and animals.
La présente invention concerne une composition pharmaceutique comportant un complexe métallique d'un carboxylate présentant une activité anti-inflammatoire dans un excipent pharmaceutiquement acceptable. Cette composition est telle que : (1) elle présente une structure colloïdale ou forme une structure colloïdale lorsqu'elle est administrée à un sujet humain ou animal, ou n'est pas miscible avec l'eau; (2) plus de 80 % de la quantité totale de carboxylate présentant une activité anti-inflammatoire dans la composition est présente en tant que partie d'un complexe métallique; et (3) moins de 10 % du carboxylate présentant une activité anti-inflammatoire formant un complexe avec le métal se dissocie du métal en l'espace de 12 mois lorsque la composition est stockée en l'absence de lumière à température ambiante. Ces compositions excluent celles comportant un complexe métallique contenant le ligand DMF. L'invention se rapporte également à l'utilisation de cette composition pharmaceutique pour le traitement de troubles inflammatoires chez des sujets humains et animaux.
