The present invention relates generally to medical devices, preferably a stent, comprising an amount of one or more therapeutic agents, preferably paclitaxel, useful for preventing or treating a disease or condition associated with cell proliferation and/or migration. In particular, the invention relates to medical devices that is capable of releasing a cytostatic amount of paclitaxel that is effective to arrest smooth muscle cells in their G1/S phase without killing the cells. The medical devices can also release paclitaxel at a predetermined rate. Methods of making and using the medical devices are also provided.
La présente invention concerne d'une façon générale des dispositifs médicaux, de préférence un extenseur, qui comprend une quantité d'un ou plusieurs agents thérapeutiques, de préférence du paclitaxel, utiles dans la prévention ou le traitement de maladies ou d'un état associé à la prolifération et/ou à la migration. L'invention concerne notamment des dispositifs médicaux capables de libérer une quantité cytostatique d'un paclitaxel qui est efficace pour arrêter la prolifération de cellules de muscles lisses dans leur phase G1/S sans tuer les cellules. Les dispositifs médicaux peuvent aussi libérer le paclitaxel à un taux prédéterminé. L'invention concerne également la fabrication et l'utilisation de dispositifs médicaux correspondants.
