A spring actuated hoop earring having a pair of hemispherical arms, with an end of each arm being provided with a hinge element and the hinge element has interdigitated complementary ears with the other hinge element. A pivot pin passes through the ears, and a coil spring is mounted on the pivot pin with lever ends of the coil spring extending into each arm to normally close the hemispherical arms. The free ends of the arms have an earlobe grasping device which normally grasps the ear under the urging of the spring.
