2110903 9320787 PCTABS00027 A multidose transdermal drug delivery assembly comprises a laminate composite having a plurality of reservoirs (7) formed therein. Unit doses with transdermal drug actives for transdermal administration are disposed in the reservoirs. Individual seals (5) enclose the drug in each of the reservoirs. The unit doses are in the form of a multiphase composition of microspheres wherein an internal phase comprises the drug actives and adjuvants surrounded by an outer phase of film-forming polysaccharides engrafted with transdermal promoters. The microspheres are distributed through a diffusable matrix for the composition. The individual seals (5), upon activation, disrupt the microspheres (8) to release the drug actives and adjuvants in the unit dose compartment (7), and the drug diffuses through the matrix to a patient's skin. A security strip (14) may be provided to prevent accidental activation of the drug.
