Unlike conventional manual can openers which use a single shear cutter and a turning apparatus to either shear the can lid open or to shear the can lid off by moving around the circumference of the can, the Can Wizard Manual Can Opener is an innovative new idea which cuts the can lid off just below the lid using three shear cutters spaced 120 degrees apart. The Can Wizard Can Opener uses no turning knob apparatus but instead uses three L-shaped handles, attached independently to three cutters on a circular base plate. When pressure is applied to the handles the cutters shear the can when the can is turned on the base plate
