ABSTRACT A device for placing a plurality of winding cores on an expandable winding shaft with a given relative positioning of the same, characterized in that a frame with mutually parallel guide tracks for winding cores fed thereto in a transverse position is mounted on a stand, in that the distance between the guide tracks or the distance between the winding cores defined by the tracks, corresponds to the desired distance of winding cores on the winding shaft, in that in front parts thereof said tracks are so provided with abutments and recesses, in that the respectively foremost winding cores are exposed on oppositely placed zones thereof, in that said device comprises tongs-llke grippers in the stand for each respective winding core, said grippers having gripping jaws arranged to substantially simultaneously engage opposite sides of the winding cores, and in that the grippers and the frame are able to be moved in relation to each other in such a manner that the winding shaft may be inserted through the aligned bores of the winding cores lifted from the tracks and held by the grippers for taking up such winding cores.
