A method of forming a tubular member with longitudinal slots along part of its wall, comprising the steps of: firstly, forming longitudinal zones of weakness along part of the wall of the tubular member, and secondly, expanding the said part of the tubular member radially to cause fracture of the wall of the member along the longitudinal zones, thereby to form longitudinal slots.

Procédé servant à fabriquer un élément tubulaire dont une partie de la longueur de la paroi présente des fentes longitudinales, et consistant à d'abord créer des zones longitudinales de faiblesse le long d'une partie de la paroi de cet élément tubulaire et, ensuite, à dilater ladite partie de l'élément tubulaire dans un sens radial afin de provoquer la rupture de la paroi de cet élément le long des zones longitudinales, ce qui permet d'obtenir des fentes longitudinales.
