A switch based feature that allows subscribers to mute their talk path volume. From the switch perspec- tive, the subscriber's talk path volume is muted by breaking the connection between the subscriber's incom- ing talk path and the outgoing listen path to the other party of the telephone call, and connecting the central office provided quiet tone to the other party's listen path.
