An improved display package type bag from the type in which a bag is removed from a web of interconnected heat-sealable bags. The improvement comprises an additional horizontal compression type heat seal across a top portion of the bag and below a top perforation edge, which allows a top trim end of the bag above the heat seal to be removed. The method of producing the improved bag includes the steps of (1) providing a web of interconnected heat-sealable bags (2) loading a product into a single bag (3) sealing the bag with a horizontal compression type heat seal (4) severing the bag from the web from a position at a top edge of the heat seal of the bag, so that the bag and heat seal remain intact (5) trimming the web to remove an excess trim end of the web, and (6) discarding the excess trim end by blowing a short blast of air so that said trim end is directed away.
