The invention provides an apparatus for building a three-dimensional article in sequential cross-sectional layers, which apparatus comprises: a powder delivery system comprising one or more reservoirs (1) for delivering a powder and a powder spreading system (2) ; a printing system (10) for delivering a liquid; a build chamber (3) comprising a outer wall, an inner wall and a build platform (7) which is movable along the inner wall of the build chamber; and a powder recovery system (11) ; wherein at least 50% of the outer wall of the build chamber is in communication with the powder recovery system. The invention further provides a method building a three-dimensional article wherein use is made of said apparatus.

L~invention concerne un appareil pour la fabrication d~un article tridimensionnel en couches transversales séquentielles, lequel appareil comprend : un système d~alimentation en poudre comprenant un ou plusieurs réservoirs (1) destinés à fournir une poudre et un système d~étalement de la poudre (2) ; un système d~impression (10) destiné à fournir un liquide ; une chambre de construction (3) comprenant une paroi externe, une paroi interne et une plateforme de construction (7) qui peut se déplacer le long d~une paroi interne de la chambre de construction ; et un système de récupération de poudre (11) ; dans lequel au moins 50 % de la paroi externe de la chambre de construction est en communication avec le système de récupération de poudre.
