A simplified filing system (10) which can be mounted on a stand-alone support structure (20, 30, 100), or mounted on a support structure that attaches directly to a wall in a storage area. The filing system comprises rows of support carriages (110) for storage with all but the bottom row capable of lateral movement via a roller assembly (120, 121, 130, 131) to permit access to lower rows of storage areas. The support carriages (110) contain hanging files or storage baskets (80) to store a variety of documents or other items for storage.
