The invention is concerned with symmetrical compounds of formula I Image wherein all X's are silicon residues S bonded to O via spacer groups Z or two X's are silicon residues bonded to O via spacer groups Z and the third X is H or a silicon residue S bonded to O, in which the spacer group Z comprises a saturated or mono- or multiply-unsaturated alkyl group with 3 to 12 C atoms and the silicon residue S contains 1-8 Si atoms and comprises trialkyl-silyl or trialkoxy-silyl groups each containing 3-15 C atoms or an oligosiloxane.
