A polymer blend foam having smooth skin and/or an open-cell content of at least 20 volume percent, a crosslinked gel content of no greater than 10 percent, a minimum cross-sectional area of at least 1000 mm2, and a density of no greater than 250 kg/m3. The blend includes (A) a substantially random interpolymer having polymerized therein (1) a vinyl or vinylidene aromatic monomer and/or sterically hindered aliphatic or cycloaliphatic vinyl or vinylidene monomer, and (2) one or more of ethylene and a C3-20 aliphatic .alpha.-olefin; and (B) an olefin polymer based on one or more of ethylene, C3- 20 aliphatic .alpha.-olefins, and C3-20 aliphatic .alpha.-olefins containing polar groups. The olefin polymer (B) lacks any of the vinyl or vinylidene aromatic monomers found in (A).
Cette invention concerne une mousse faite d'un mélange de polymère présentant une peau lisse et/une teneur en cellules ouvertes d'au moins 20 % en volume, une teneur en gel réticulé de 10 % maximum, une surface minimum en coupe d'au moins 1000 mm?2¿, et une densité ne dépassant pas 250 kg/m?3¿. Le mélange comprend (A) un interpolymère sensiblement aléatoire renfermant sous forme polymérisée (1) un monomère aromatique de vinyle ou de vinylidène et/ou un monomère de vinyle ou de vinylidène aliphatique ou cycloaliphatique à empêchement stérique et (2) un ou plusieurs composés d'éthylène et d'($)g(a)-oléfine aliphatique en C¿3-20?; et (B) un polymère d'oléfine à base d'un ou de plusieurs composés d'éthylène et d'.alpha.oléfine aliphatique en C¿3-20?, et des .alpha.-oléfines aliphatiques en C¿3-20? renfermant des groupes polaires. Le polymère oléfinique (B) ne renferme aucun des monomères aromatiques de vinyle ou de vinylidène présents dans (A).
