ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A moisture absence alarm comprising a permanently insulated conductivity sensor probe, a shielded solar cell DC power source, a digitalized sonar pattern and audio signaller and circuitry means to connect these. When conditions in a substrate have changed from moist to dry,the difference in impedance between two terminals of the inserted probe causes an audio signal to occur which is modulated for pitch, frequency and rhythm by the changing lux conditions as detected by a shielded solar cell power source. The alarm continues during ambient light availab- ility until moisture is added to the substrate at which point the sounder falls silent.
