ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Method and apparatus for controlling and regulating the speed of a controlled movable structure such as an elevator, lift or the like. The speed is controlled and regulated by monitoring means controlling the variation of speed by means of a differential voltage generated by the comparison of a voltage whose variation represents the evolution of the real speed of the mobile, on the one hand, with a voltage called control voltage, on the other hand, and which tends to follow a continuous ideal curve of speed variation called a "reference curve" and is regularly corrected by a device called a "corrector" at lengths of distances obtained by decoding certain positions of a single programmable series counter designed to count the entire distance travelled after an order has been given at a fixed distance from the stopping point, wherein each correction value has its origin realigned with the reference curve.
