AUTOMATIC DISPLAY SYSTEM AND PROCESS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An image display system and process are dis- closed. The image display system comprises a generally flat display screen which is subdivided into a plurality of display mode modules, each display module being com- posed of a plurality of display elements. Each display element allowing the display of an image dot, comprises a plurality of display sub-elements which are hollow cylinders, having a dark half surface and a clear half surface, rotatable by 180°, or these display sub-elements are display cells wherein a projection block is movable between a retracted position, where it is invisibly lodged within the cell, and an advanced position, where it is visible from outside by the display's viewer. Electro- magnetic means are provided to actuate directly or indirect- ly all display sub-elements for resetting and setting of the image. The display sub-elements of an element provide the display of the grey values of said dot. One embodiment allows to pre-set a new image behind the panel during the display of the preceding one. The electromagnets of each module are control- led by a binary digital control unit.
