PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF 1-BENZOYL-2-(2',6'- DICHLOROPHENYLAMINO)-2-IMIDAZOLINE AND SALTS THEREOF ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for the preparation of 1-berzoyl-2- (2',6'-dichlorophenylamino)-2-imidazoline or a salt thereof, which comprises reacting a 2,6-dichlorophenyl- isocyanide dihalide with benzoylethylenediamine in a solvent inert to the reactants at a temperature from 0°C. up to the boiling point of the solvent used, preferably from +10°C. to +50°C., in the presence of an acid- binding agent, and isolating the desired product as the free base or a salt with an inorganic or organic acid.
