Process for the isolation of 18-crown-6 in high yield and high purity from mixtures which may also contain one or more other macrocyclic polyethers by treating 18-crown-6 with dimethylcarbonate or dimethyloxalate to precipitate a complex of 18-crown-6 and dimethylcarbonate or dimethyl- oxalate, separating the precipitated complex from the resulting solution of non-complexed material and affording uncomplexed 18-crown-6 by dissociating the separated complex. The 18-crown-6 complexes are novel.
