ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Automated visual display apparatus includes a band of flexible, translucent material formed as a series of pockets adapted to receive and carry pictorial displays. A pair of terminal rolls support the band and are reversibly driven by a motor to controllably displace the pictorial displays past one or more viewing apertures in a cabinet containing the apparatus. Encoded control information is carried on the band and is sensed to enable a logic circuit to selectively energize and deenergize the motor to advance or return the displays. Similarly, the logic circuit selectively energizes and deenergizes a light source to illuminate the displays only after the displays have stopped at respective viewing apertures.
