ROGERS, BERESKIN & PARR C A N A D A Title: MECHANICAL PROTECTION COATING FOR COATED PIPE Inventors: ERGO KARUKS and MARTIN ROHN ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A thin cementitious coating is applied to the thin smooth corrosion protective coating of a pipe to protect the corrosion protective coating against mechanical damage. The cementitious coating adheres to the corrosion protective coating, is typically between 0.5 and 4.0 millimeters in thickness, and contains a cementitious material such as portland cement, a polymer such as an acrylic polymer, and may also contain chopped fibres such as glass fibres and a filler material such as silica sand. The cementitious coating has sufficient conductivity to permit a cathodic protection current to flow therethrough.
