ABSTRACT An optical fibres cable is disclosed which has at least one optical fibre enclosed within a loose-fitting tube, The tube comprises a reinforcing element in the form of a metal tape wrapped into tubular form and having op- posite edges extending parallel to the axis of the tube thus formed and over- lapping. The metal tape is provided with a coating of plastics material at least on its outwardly facing side and an extruded sheath of plastics material is bonded to the coating.
