ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for the separation of 1,3-butadiene from a feed mixture comprising 1,3-butadiene and at least one other C4 unsaturate. A feed stream containing 1,3-butadiene and at least one other C4 un- saturate is contacted with an adsorbent comprising a crystalline alumino- silicate selected from the group consisting of type X structured and type Y structured zeolites containing at the exchangeable cationic sites at least one cation selected from the group consisting of lithium, sodium, potassium, rubidium, cesium, and barium to effect the selective adsorption of 1,3-butadiene. The 1,3-butadiene adsorbed by the adsorbent is there- after recovered as a purified product.
