IMPROVEMENTS IN SOLAR ENERGY COLLECTORS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A solar energy collector comprises a closed envelope formed from two sheets of material sealed together around their peripheral edges and spaced apart to define a space adapted to be filled with a working fluid and opening into a vapour space into which the working fluid can vaporize when heated by exposing one surface of the envelope to solar radiation. At least one condensing tube is provided in heat exchange relation- ship with the vapour space and through which liquid to be heated flows. At least one of the two sheets is formed to provide, in combination with the other sheet, at least one condensate return channel for returning condensed vapour from the vapour space to the working fluid space. The result is a collector that can operate more efficiently than conventional collectors.
