ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to a loading and unloading de- vice for use in association with the load carrying area of a vehicle comprising: a base adapted to be positioned between the ground or other surface and a wheel of the vehicle between or in association with the load carrying area, an upright projecting upwardly from the base, supporting means connecting the upright to the body of the vehicle adjacent the load carrying area; and a load carrying arm attached to the upper end of the upright, characterised in that the upright is pivotally supported on the base so that it can rotate about its own vertical axis, the load carrying arm is pivotally mounted on the upright so that it can be folded to an inoperative position alongside the upright and is held in the operative position by a brace which may also be folded to be alongside the upright in the inoperative position; and the base is provided with locking means to hold the wheel in position.
