ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A supporting collar for attachment to a circular cross-sectional upright support member of a scaffolding has radially disposed open-sided support brackets having open ends directed inwardly about a circle corresponding to the periphery of the support member and interconnected outside the circle. The collar has two collar parts each having at least one bracket and being, at one end, hingedly connected together and, at the other and free ends, detachably interconnected in spaced rela- tion with one another, whereby the free ends of the brackets bear in line contact and biting engagement against the periphery. A line radiating outwardly from the centre of the circle and bi- secting any one of the brackets is at an angle other than 90° to a line radiating outwardly from the centre of the circle and bi- secting the hinged connection of the collar parts, and a line bisecting the space between the collar parts.
