ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A suspension polymerization of a haloethylene compound or a mixture of a haloethylene compound and a comonomer therefor is carried out in an aqueous medium containing a suspending agent and an oil soluble catalyst, including incorporating at least one of a water soluble or organic solvent soluble lignin derivative in the aqueous medium or coating the surfaces of the equipment in which the polymerization takes place with the lignin derivative.
