Abstract of the Disclosure A simulated tufted cushion comprises a lower sheet of plastic material, an upper sheet of plastic material, and a pad of foam rubber disposed between said sheets. The pad is formed with spaced openings therethrough, and means for fusing the sheets together within said openings, thereby drawing said upper sheet into said openings to give the appearance of tufts. A method of making the simulated tufted cushion comprises forming openings through a foam rubber pad, placing said pad on a lower sheet of plastic material, partially filling said openings with fusible material, and placing an upper sheet of plastic material. Pressure and heat are applied to said sheets in the neighbourhood of said openings to fuse said sheets together within said openings to thereby draw at least said upper sheet part way into said openings to give the appearance of tufts.
