ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: There is disclosed a simplified process for producing crystalline polymers and copolymers of propylene, in which propylene or a mixture thereof with ethylene and/or alpha- olefins different from propylene is polymerised in contact with catalysts the starting components of which are (1) organometallic Al compounds and (2) solid catalytic components comprising, at least on the surface, the reaction product of a halogenated Mg compound with a Ti compound and with an electron-donor compound, and in which the polymer separated from the polymerization zone has an isotacticity index of from 90 to 97 and a melt index of from 0.5 to 30 g/10'. The new crystalline polymers and copolymers thus produced possess excellent physical-mechanical properties.
