ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A novel catalyst composition, and process for the preparation of magnetic, catalytic composites. A particulate magnetic alloy of iron or cobalt is contacted with a phosphate ion containing solution and reacted to form a surface film thereupon, removed from said solution, preferably dried, then incorporated within an inorganic oxide matrix, notably alumina.
