ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A hydrocarbon conversion catalyst suitable for conversion of heavy hydrocarbon oils containing large amounts of metallic contaminants, such as petroleum residue, to lower boiling products comprises from about 15 to about 50 weight percent of an absorbent such as bulk alumina composited with an inorganic oxide gel such as silica-alumina. The catalyst may additionally comprise a crystalline aluminosilicatezeolite.
