ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention relates to a body comprising a plurality of vulcanized rubber fibers embedded in a synthetic plastic material, the vulcanized rubber fibers being obtained as waste product in the retreading of tires and containing remnants of vulcanizing agent. The molecular chains of the plastic and rubber are cross-linked and the rubber fibers constitute at least 50 weight % of the total mass of the body. The body of the invention eliminates the problems associated with the disposal of rubber fibers obtained in the retreading of tires and can be used, for example, as surfacing material, filling material or construction material.
